Introduction to vNext

Michael Miceli (Developer for Velocity Squared)

Microsoft is coming out with a new version of ASP.NET, currently called vNext, but will be known as ASP.NET 5. I’m going to go over many of the new features and show how ASP.NET is changing to be more modular and open source. Various items that will be gone over include dependency injection, non-IIS hosting, custom middleware configuration, client script management, .NETCore, tag helpers, and MVC 6.

Michael is a software developer at a local development shop called Velocity Squared where he uses .NET technologies to write custom software for fit clients’ various needs.

Jonathan Nogueira​ (Web Developer for Baton Rouge General Medical Center)

We’ll be going over the current state of Microsoft’s open source projects, take a tour of how they’re different from their closed source brethren at the moment, and look at plans for the future of OSS at MS.

Jonathan Nogueira is a web developer at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He’s worked on a number of Open Source projects and his current passion is a Node HTML wrapper for ASP.
