Introduction to Functional Programming

– Ross Murray

Functional programming is a style of programming, like object oriented programming. Its focuses include pure functions, immutability, and functions as values. Functional programming’s recent rise in popularity has it being used at companies like Facebook, Netflix and Twitter. In this session we’ll survey functional programming and discuss which parts we can use day-to-day.

Ross Murray is a recent CS graduate from Southeastern in Hammond. He has worked in C# since 2011 at St. James Technologies in Baton Rouge, mostly doing industrial data gathering. He is interested in programming languages, game development and colors.
